Joint action
Country level
By the time of the G8 and G20 Summits in late June 2010, five to seven countries in which we will start or intensify work to jointly support the country-owned, multi-donor development of comprehensive food security policies, strategies and investment plans, including food access, nutrition and other issues.
At least two of the countries will be outside of the African region.
Within Africa, joint activities will be coordinated within the CAADP process.
- We will jointly support the organization of and active participation by all relevant stakeholders in technical and high-level reviews of country plans.
- We will support coordinated outreach to the private sector and civil society (including farmers’ organizations) in the selected countries to ensure those sectors’ involvement in reviewing country plans.
- Where it is necessary: jointly approach international organizations to encourage their full participation in and support for the CAADP process.
- We will coordinate in advance of the CAADP Multi-Donor Trust Fund partnership committee meetings.
Regional level
We will jointly support implementation of the West Africa ECOWAS regional agriculture program, ECOWAP/CAADP.
Global level
Jointly support the implementation of reforms of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) and of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
