Introduction

The Physician's Oath was adopted by the World Medical Association in 1948, as part of the Declaration of Geneva (1948). Adopted by the General Assembly of the World Medical Association, Geneva, Switzerland, September 1948 and amended by the 22nd World Medical Assembly, Sydney, Australia, August 1968.

Objective

Ensure that the physician does not use medical knowledge contrary to the laws of humanity.

Parties

The oath must be pledged at the time a physician is admitted as a member of the medical profession.


Medical knowledge must not be used contrary to the laws of humanity.
