The monitoring the implementation of work programmes and evaluating the activities of the UN-HABITAT are coordinated by a dedicated unit - the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit. To the Unit is located in the Office of the Executive Director (OED) and reports directly to UN-HABITAT Governing Bodies (Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) and the Governing Council (GC) through the Executive Director.

Aim & Objectives
The States participating in the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) adopt the goals and principles of adequate shelter for all and sustainable human settlements development in an urbanizing world.
- the elimination of the practices civil, ethnic and religious strife, violations of human rights, alien and colonial domination, foreign occupation, economic imbalances, poverty, organized crime, terrorism in all its forms, and corruption
- the elimination of all unilateral measures impeding social and economic development
At National Level
- reinforce peace by promoting tolerance, nonviolence and respect for diversity
- settling disputes by peaceful means
At Local Level
Essential to the attainment of safe and secure society is:
- the prevention of crime, through social development
- the promotion of sustainable communities
At International Level
- promote international peace and security
